Independence Day

The 4th of July is upon us! Holidays are always a wonderful way to bring together friends and family to catch up and make new memories. Plus, the 4th of July is a day off from work which gives you extra time to soak up the sun and community celebrations.

What is also great about holidays is that we as educators and parents can make holidays a learning experience for our kids. Learning about the holidays teaches history and the foundations of our society, deepening our understanding of ourselves and others. It promotes an understanding of the day as well as facilitates an appreciation for the significance of the annual traditions.

We have some great foundational videos to introduce the history of the 4th of July, which can serve as a new learning tool or as a refresher. Start by looking at some of the people and battles of the Revolutionary War and how the Treaty of Paris ended the war and gave the colonies independence.

Then, take a closer look at the national holidays themselves and interesting facts about the United States and its people. Your kids will learn about the different holidays selected by the federal government and their significance leading to our celebrations today.

Our team at ClassOrbit hopes you have a great 4th of July celebrating our nation’s birth.
