Back to School!

Back to School!

School is back in action! The excitement and butterflies that come with starting the first few weeks of school is felt by students and teachers alike.

Educators everywhere have prepared for weeks, if not months, for this new year to begin. From classroom layout to lesson plans to ice breaker activities and even down to the perfect outfit to wear on the first day of school - everyone has been waiting for these moments!

Here are some helpful beginning-of-the-year tips I have used both at home as an educator and with my students to help transition into the new year:

  • Get into a solid morning routine (keep an eye out for our next T2T posts; we’ll be diving deeper into the power of routines).
  • Create a distraction-free zone (or a few) throughout the house where work or homework can be completed peacefully and efficiently.
  • Use class time wisely to lessen the amount of work/ homework needing to be completed at home.
  • Get organized! Instead of trying to remember everything that needs to be done, write it down! Use a checklist, to-do list, planner, etc. to help ease the mental load and create solid life habits.
  • Take breaks! For some students, studying does not come easy. For some teachers, planning lessons and even grading doesn’t come easy. Give yourself some time when you get home to decompress - breathe, workout, get some vitamin d, or even take a nap before diving into work/ homework.
  • Plan clothes and pack bags every night before bed; one less thing for the morning.
  • Get into a consistent bedtime routine (again - keep an eye out for our next T2T posts!)

We also have some fun videos to help with the first month of school. These videos explain the importance of eating a balanced breakfast and even discuss safety tips while getting to school. Utilize our online resources at ClassOrbit to help make this first month of school run smoothly.

Now, go out there and have the best school year ever! The team here at ClassOrbit believes in you!
