Transportation in and Between Communities

Discover how transportation moves people and goods from one community to another. Advantages and disadvantages of land, water, and air travel are shown and compared. How transportation has changed over time through technological advances is illustrated with light-hearted historical footage of man's first attempts to fly. Following a pineapple from foreign field to local grocery will help students understand how important transportation is to trade. Students see the impact on our environment as well as new forms of transportation.

Explore the land, water and air modes of transportation that move people and products around our communities.

  2. Transportation collage. This can be done individually or as a class. Have students clip pictures from magazines and newspapers of different types of transportation. Encourage students to find unique modes of transportation for their collage. If possible, label each type of transportation.
