San Diego's Electric Skateboarding Scene
If you didn't know, San Diego is considered the birthplace of skateboarding. It is also the first city on the west coast to have a skate park! Electric Skateboards are a new trend that is taking off in San Diego.
The first motorized skateboard came to be in the summer of 1975 when the MotoBoard was released. It was a mass-produced, gasoline-powered skateboard with polyurethane skate wheels and lightweight industrial engines.
There are some laws and regulations regarding Electric Skateboards in San Diego. They are only permitted in specific areas. California has one of the most progressive legislations about personal mobility devices, which includes electric skateboards and e-scooters. According to California law AB-6904, it's legal to ride an electric skateboard on roads with a speed limit under 35 mph. You need to wear a helmet and have a headlight and reflectors. There is also a limit speed of 15 mph.

Electric Skateboarding is a trend that continues to grow in San Diego, and other parts of the country.
